Vikramaditya VI

Vikramaditya VI
(?-1126)
The Chaulukya ruler of Kalyani who came to throne in 1076. As prince, he had invaded Bengal and Malwa. On his accession, Vikramaditya VI assumed the title Tribhu-vanamalla and also started a new era. Already by 1100 the Yadavas of Narmada were his feudatories. He seized Kanchi (1085) and wrested Andhra from Cholas (1118-1124). Vikramaditya VI also subdued the Hoyasalas, annexing Dorasamudra in 1120. He was patron to the poet Bilhana and to Vijnanesvara, the author of mitak-shara.
